This is peak time for 15 - 20,000 Elegant Tundra Swans, 300 - 400,000 Colorful Ducks & Geese, Lots of Bald Eagles and Hawks, and many other kinds of birds!

5 PM Doors Open – Register for Festival and Boat Tours – Middle School, Main Street, Hwy 9, Lansing, IA

6:30 "Meet and Incredible Live Peregrine Falcon" Learn how the world's fastest bird fought off extinction, and how it now lives in our midst.  Also enjoy "Raptor Force," very likely the most brilliant video of flight ever produced. Bob Anderson, Director, Raptor Resource Project, and key person behind the Peregrine's return to the Midwest.

7:15 Social time: Door Prizes, Gift Certificates, Door Prizes, Silent Auction, Q. and A. about Weekend Schedule

Saturday – Nov. 10th – Fun & Learning: Talks by Experts, Field Trips to 3 States, Boat Trips, 2 Auctions, Live Music

7 AM Special Early Bird Breakfast – Homemade Sourdough Pancakes, etc. United Methodist Church, 490 Center St.

8:00 Doors open.  Registration continues - Middle School, 696 Main Street, Hwy 9, Lansing, IA - Door Prizes.  Enjoy displays, visit vendors, sign-up for boat trips, prepare for field trips - other activities with friends

9:00 "Big White Birds on the Upper Mississippi" - Arnie Fredrickson, retired Professor, Univ. of Minnesota; award winning volunteer for swan projects; photographer and author; his new book is about Tundra & Trumpeter Swans

9:45 Break + Silent Auction + Snacks + Door Prizes

10:00 How to Identify Mississippi River Waterfowl ( A very important intro., or a brush-up, before field trips.) - Brenda Hill, Wildlife Biologist, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
 

11:00 Silent Auction Ends ....................Free Time - Visit Vendors - Enjoy beautiful Mt. Hosmer, within City Limits.  Tour Museum of River History - located on shore of Mississippi River, just downstream from foot of Main Street.  Visit downtown Lansing - Enjoy fine restaurants, shop at business that support the festival.
 

1:00 Field Trips By caravan of ride-share vehicles, led by top birders who help visitors enjoy wildlife in each of 3 states.

Two 2-hour Excursion Boat Cruises Everyone must be registered for the festival to reserve space for a boat trip. Boat reservations are first come-first served. Excursion boats are large and heated.  Top birders will help visitors.

Non-birders in your family? Shop at Festival Headquarters, or downtown Lansing. Enjoy our scenic area.

6:00 Enjoy Fine Buffet Dinner at **New Albin Community Center, Catered by Clancy's Supper Club - (Reservations Required)

1:00 Compile Master Checklist of all Birds Seen during Festival. The composite list for 4 previous festivals is 121 species!!
In 2006, visitors saw 91 species during the festival. Can we see more than 100 different kinds of birds this weekend???
 

1:15 "An Eagle Ballet," 15 glorious minutes of Bald Eagles twisting, turning, diving, and doing what they do best... catching fish, all set to inspiring music by Mannheim Steamroller.

"Things Worth Saving", 17 minutes of jaw dropping gorgeous photos of mammals, birds, wildflowers, insects and seldom seen jewels of nature.  A compact production that will stir the heart and soul of every nature lover.  Also set to great music.  - Ty Smedes, Urbandale Iowa Nature Photographer, created both of these incredible productions.
