Main Street Lansing Welcomes New Executive Director, Jackie Cooper
We are thrilled to announce that Jackie Cooper has been appointed as the new Executive Director of Main Street Lansing. Jackie brings a wealth of experience, passion, and community spirit to this important role, and we are excited about the future of downtown Lansing under her leadership.
A Strong Connection to Lansing
Although Jackie grew up in rural Fayette, IA, Lansing has always felt like a second home. Her family spent many summers on the river, creating fond memories of the area. After graduating from Upper Iowa University, Jackie chose to make Lansing her permanent home. For over a decade, she has proudly raised her family here with her husband alongside running their family business, Cooper Seed Solutions. Jackie is not only deeply invested in Lansing’s future but also in the well-being of the entire community.
"We are excited to enroll our children as Kee Hawks and wear purple with pride," Jackie shared about her family's enthusiasm for their hometown.
Extensive Non-Profit Experience
Jackie’s career has been centered around non-profit work, with over 10 years of experience in marketing, public relations, fundraising, event management, grant writing, and board work. She has held roles with respected organizations like the Allamakee County Conservation office, Winneshiek County Extension, InspireHer, and Mosaic, where she has helped empower adults with disabilities. Her unique combination of skills and dedication to community development makes her the perfect fit for her new role with Main Street Lansing.
In addition to her non-profit experience, Jackie is a certified Sister Circle Coach and a licensed Iowa REALTOR®, bringing a strong understanding of both community empowerment and economic development to the position.
MSL Board Member Bruce Palmburg shared his thoughts, "As a board member of some years, I am enthused about Jackie's friendliness and abilities, as are the other board members, and she is already familiar with Lansing, which of course is a big plus."
Excited for the Future of Downtown Lansing
As the new Executive Director, Jackie is committed to driving the economic growth and vibrancy of downtown Lansing. Her focus will be on connecting local businesses, fostering collaborations between in-town and rural communities, and promoting sustainable development that benefits everyone.
"I’m eager to sit down with local businesses, learn about their needs, and work together to enhance the vitality of downtown Lansing. My goal is to ensure our community thrives and grows in a way that honors our unique character and history," said Jackie.
Chris Troendle, MSL Board President, shared his enthusiasm for Jackie’s appointment, saying, "Jackie will be a great addition to the Lansing Main Street family, building on its success with her great energy, amazing personality, and drive to make Lansing the best place to live, work, and play in the Midwest!"
